Debate Competition

At our school, we believe that education is not confined to textbooks and classrooms. Developing the ability to express ideas confidently, communicate effectively, think critically and present oneself before an audience is an equally important part of a student’s overall development. With this vision, our school organizes the Annual Debate Competition every year.

The debate competition is designed to provide students with a meaningful platform to express their thoughts, develop their speaking and presentation skills, enhance their confidence and strengthen their personality. It encourages students to think logically, listen attentively, respect different viewpoints and present their arguments in an organized and convincing manner.

A special feature of our debate competition is that it is conducted across three different sections—Primary, Junior and Senior, giving students of different age groups an opportunity to participate according to their level of learning and understanding.

To promote multilingual communication and help students develop a strong command over different languages, the competition is conducted in three languages—English, Hindi and our regional language, Kumaoni. This unique initiative encourages students to communicate confidently in different linguistic environments and helps them appreciate the richness of both national and regional languages.

Through this competition, students get the opportunity to:

  • Develop effective speaking and communication skills.
  • Improve their presentation and public-speaking abilities.
  • Build self-confidence and overcome stage fear.
  • Develop logical thinking, reasoning and argumentation skills.
  • Learn to express their opinions clearly and respectfully.
  • Improve their command over English, Hindi and Kumaoni.
  • Develop the ability to listen to and appreciate different perspectives.
  • Enhance their personality, leadership qualities and overall confidence.
  • Learn the importance of preparation, discipline, teamwork and healthy competition.

The Annual Debate Competition was successfully conducted this year as well, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students across the Primary, Junior and Senior sections. The participants demonstrated impressive confidence, preparation, knowledge and oratory skills. Their performances reflected not only their command over the respective languages but also their ability to think independently and present their ideas effectively before an audience.

The competition also recognized excellence at both team and individual levels. The deserving teams were awarded First, Second and Third positions, while outstanding individual performers were also recognized for their exceptional debating and speaking abilities.

As a special distinction, the competition also provided an opportunity to identify and honour the most impressive speakers with the titles of Master Debate and Miss Debate. These titles celebrate students who demonstrated exceptional confidence, clarity of thought, command over language, presentation skills and overall debating ability.

We are proud of all the students who participated in this year’s competition. Their enthusiasm, courage and willingness to express themselves are truly commendable. We congratulate all the winners and participants and appreciate the teachers and mentors whose guidance and encouragement made the event successful.

The Annual Debate Competition continues to be an important platform through which our students learn not only how to speak, but how to think, how to listen, how to communicate and how to confidently present themselves before others. We look forward to making this initiative even more enriching and inspiring in the years to come.
